Trail Work/Volunteering
Trail work, other race volunteer hours, or a $120 CAD/$85 USD contribution to our trail work fund is a registration requirement (all distances). Fat Dog is responsible for the maintenance of approximately half of the trails used for the race and therefore trail maintenance is a vital part of what we do. Giving back is also part of what we value as a race. Our trail work may include clearing overgrown brush, removing downed trees or branches, removing debris, fixing drainage issues, or assisting BC Parks with other projects. If you are able to, we invite you to join us for trail work days! We supply all the tools and instructions. As an added bonus, you will get to meet other racers and see sections of the race course. See the Trail Work Schedule for dates and locations. If you plan to join us, please Email to let us know you are coming as we may need to make last minute changes based on weather or trail conditions or number of participants for that day. If you do trail work with us, there is no need to submit proof - we have you on our list!If you are unable to join the Fat Dog team for trail work, you may also do trail work at a location convenient to you. Please make sure this is sanctioned work through another race, club, or other organization that cares for the trails (ie. local mountain bike organization etc). Use this form to submit proof by email before July 15. If neither of these trail work options are available to you, you may also volunteer a minimum 8 hours at another race to satisfy the requirement. Preferably, this would be done at another trail running race, local to you, but if you feel you have suitable volunteer experience at an alternate event please send us an email for confirmation.
Trail Work Schedules

This work can be done along with us (and as a bonus you get to meet other racers and see part of the course), or with your local club or group near where you live. Any sanctioned trail work or race volunteer work satisfies this requirement. Use this form to submit proof by email if you volunteer with another group.Email to let us know you are coming. Always check the location before driving; we may need to change locations based on priority. We supply the tools; you bring your own lunch!
