Our Fundraising

We raise funds to help with trail work which benefits all trail users in the parks. Clearing trees and improving trails over 120 miles takes tools, chainsaws, gas, fuel, and other supplies and a whole lot of time. For example, in 2016, our crews plus racers put in over 730 volunteer hours brushing and clearing 1478 trees.

Racer Fundraising 2019- Rapid Blood Test to Detect Strokes

  • Strokes can happen at ANY age,
  • #1 cause of disability,
  • #3 cause of death in adults,
  • Goal: raise $1000 for each mile!
I thought stroke was something that happened to older people
Stridesforstrokes is an initiative to raise funds for important stroke research. Strokes can happen to anyone, at any age. Stroke is the #1 cause of disability and the #3 cause of death in adults. If you had told me last year, that I would lose my left peripheral vision to a stroke, I would not have believed you. Like many Canadians, I thought stroke was something that happened to older people, and definitely not to athletes and young moms. Only 5% of strokes are diagnosed rapidly. Proceeds from stridesforstrokes will support the development of a rapid blood test for stroke. This tool could help doctors to diagnose and treat stroke quickly. With your support, we can prevent disability and death. I look forward to making strides for you!
